Our first non-english act and first french act, Heliodrome from Montreal Canada join the label and add yet another interesting take on hip hop.

Heliodrome, whether french speaking or otherwise, will definitely grab your attention and keep you there for at least 6 minutes, but most of the time 8 minutes! hehe

We have spent the last 7 months recording, re-recording, mixing and re-mixing these 7 well crafted song for their debut album and forming a nice friendship at the same time.

Sontiago aka Sonya Tomlinson

Hometown: Born in Pennyslvania but now lives in Portland, Maine
Age: 32
Sound: Lyrics and beats that challenge and adhere to old-school hip-hop constructions.
Living in the moment: When she was younger, Sontiago played the clarinet and the piano, so the arts are extremely importat to her. So important that she works with young girls to help them develope as dancrs, poets, and lyricists. "I want to see the arts contine beyond my generation," she says. But as she encourages the youth, Sontiago isn't one to dwell on the past. "I don't see hip-hop going back to a golden age. We were at a piotal point in history, and it's hard to mimmic that," Sontiago says. But she doesn't plan to give up on the craft. "The keys to success are persistence, practice and persistence."
What's next? European tour and another album.

Since moving to berlin in sepetember 2007, bleubird has been performing non stop playing shows in France, Germnay, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Belgium, England, USA and Japan. The 7 date Japan tour was an amazing experience and a first for bird in Asia. Now he is travelling back to Asia for 3 shows in Bombay, India with Grand Pianoramax at the Blue Frog venue.

Winner of the first Montreux Jazz Festival International Piano Solo Competition in 1999, Leo Tardin conceived Grand Pianoramax as an all live keyboards/drums duo with guest MCs/vocalists, blending powerful analog-synth bass lines, syncopated keys, organic drumming and freestyle spoken word improv/slam.

After months of talks we finally booked a show in the Middle East!! July 4th. Bleubird will be performing in Amman, Jordan on July 4th for one (maybe two shows) and will be sharing the stage with Ramallah Underground. (more details soon).

A few months back Bleubird was contacted to be apart of this sampler cd that Climate Action was releasing to raise money for their cause. They are based in Southern USA so they were recruiting artist form the area... Bird is from Florida!

This past weekend shortfacedbear was a guest at the Braunschweig Film Fest where the video/short film "Dilshad and Tohti by a frozen Lake was a nominee for the LEO Prize, which is for best short film with focus on visual and sound. bear was in attendence at 2 screeings and the awards ceremony. We thank the festival for invloving bear and scott and appreciating the work.

The name of Audio88’s first album on Himalaya Pop means “Silence gives consent.”. and it’s good that this MC from Berlin/Germany isn’t quiet. Without using rhymes he raps about the inconsistencies of our lives without pointing at others. He focusses his own behaviour in an angry, dramatic yet still ironic way.
The16 song album is produced by Playpad Circus, Misanthrop, Scott Da Ros, Bit-Tuner, Maki, Mattr among others.

The Scott Da Ros produced ssong is titled "Alles Gut" and can be heard at Audio88's myspace page

(taken frrom GAMIQ.ca) The Gala de l’Alternative Musicale Indépendante du Québec (GAMIQ) and the Montreal International Music Initiative (MIMI) found the Quebec Independent Music Association (AMIQ).

This new association will present an awards show and promotional events for the Quebec independent scene. The GAMIQ now becomes the official awards show for the Quebec alternative music scene and recognizes achievements by independently produced Quebec artists.

The AMIQ also creates an events producers advisory committee to improve the importance of these events on the music scene and get attention from people and public authorities. This committee will make visibility and artists trades easier between the events and will help them for grants requests.

This year Bleubird's "rip u$a" has been nominated for Best Hip Hop Album.
