The first shot fired in Endemik's war on music 2006 is brought to you by Bleubird
Pilgrim of St.Zotique is a warm ball of light that will both burn and tickle you, while you vary between bobbing + shaking your head. It's confrontational yet comfortable. This 12"EP is Bleubird's prequel to his much anticipated follow up album of Sloppy Doctor .
The past two years has been anything short of a vacation for Bleubird. He has been touring USA, Canada, and Europe and recording various projects abroad with Belgian, Swedish, German, Italian, Swiss and French artists. His recent cameo appearances include Sole's Live from Rome (Anticon), and albums by Candy'22 (Shapeshifters/Oldominion), Zucchini Drive (2ndRec ), and jdwalker (6months).
His voyages have helped him search for a sound, a voice, and a means to convey his feelings in a form that people can get their hands on and gain inspiration from. Bleubird's most notable journey had him sailing north from Florida to Montreal to be closer to his label, Endemik. It is here where he finally began working on the music he's been waiting to make all of his life.
This potty-mouthed, straight talking, "no banana + cream cheese" rapper brings more truth to the table on Pilgrim of St.Zotique ...not in that 'Beenie Segal is the truth' type of truth. He comes clean on this EP with more of his real life scenarios and self realizations; stories of what it is like to be a provocative artist in a world of yawny-yawn-yawn rappers, or a hard working dreamer who knowingly shoots himself in the foot to deliver you music he feels (not what the music industry determines)
In Pilgrim of St.Zotique, one of today's best producers of rugged hip pop electronica, Alias (Anticon) serves up three wonderfully diverse pieces that enable bird to comfortably display his shifting array of attitudes, emotions, and opinions. Other guest production includes DJ
Mayonaise ( Deep Puddle Dynamics ), Scott Da Ros , and a special beat collab from Skyrider + Sole with musician Ryan Fritch. Bird teams up with Subtitle on 'everything up', the first time in a magically abstract art-rap bonanza! where they discuss matters of the heart, mind, ducks + bunnies.
Prepare for the art gangster apocalypse on Bluebird's Pilgrim of St.Zotique. Honest, brutal, fragile, odd, different, funny, dark and awesome! This is music to love punching yourself in the face to.
Pow!
